I'm making animal figures in ceramics. The idea is to make one a day, and spend no more than one day sculpting it (though that could be anywhere between 1 and 9 hours).
They're just little animal figurines, about 12-18 inches long and proportionately tall. I'm afraid they might be too kitschy, like nicknacks. I'm considering making them piggy banks; on the one hand they would be functional, they wouldn't be 'just' nicknacks. On the other hand they would be even more kitschy, and it might make it even harder to consider them as art objects. And I like piggy banks.
But if I feel like making bunnies and warthogs out of mud, I should just do it, and not care what others might think of them! It doesn't even matter what they're used for, I feel like making them and that's all there is to it. I don't even know what others think of them, this is just based on my own insecurity.
I do have to justify making them though, for class.
